Illuminated letters from the middle ages, which were used to record the sacred and most important texts of their day, are the inspiration for these pieces. Made with colored pencils, micro pens, gauche and colored inks.
When I retired from my job as a scenic artist at the Guthrie Theatre, I made pop-up cards as parting gifts for my co-workers. Using what I knew about their personalities, activities, aspirations and dreams, I created a miniature theater set for each one of them. It was a way to mark this important transition in my life, to take my final bow from the theater and to bid adieu to my co-workers.

Pop-ups are the size of a greeting card, 5” x 7” and when open stand 5” upright. These pop-up cards have all been given away and are not available for sale.
