“Through a Zen Lens: Seasons in Japanese Gardens” by Rebecca Pavlenko
Inspired by years of mindfulness practice within a Zen tradition, I began an in-depth photographic study of Japanese Gardens in the United States. The crafting of delicate, subtle Polaroid Transfers photographic images resulted in a contemplative series on Japanese Gardens spanning the seasons. Thanks to an MRAC grant that covered the pre-press work, I hand-crafted a limited edition of 25 books. Now on its second printing, this softbound, hand stitched book with one image for each week of the year is available for sale .

“Like a haiku of muted colors, Rebecca Pavlenko’s Polaroid Transfers of Japanese Gardens remind us of how a fleeting moment of grace can be transformed, through the artist’s loving and skilled hands.” Doug Beasley
